General Ergonomics Services

Walsh & Associates Professional Safety Services can improve demands associated with work. Poor ergonomics can lead to a variety of musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) / repetitive strain injuries (RSI). We can help your team evaluate, prioritize and develop solutions for tasks/jobs where sprains/strains are common. When there are staff complaints about the effort to perform, we can review and assess the functional abilities required to complete a task. Walsh & Associates Professional Safety Services staff can also help be proactive, assessing risk before injuries occur. Recommendations are developed using a science-based approach and over 20 years of experience in a variety of sectors, including office settings, health care facilities, and industrial settings.

Physical Demands Analysis and Cognitive Demands Analysis

Walsh & Associates Professional Safety Services staff can complete Physical Demands Analysis and Cognitive Demands Analysis. These are standard approaches to document the various demands of work in your workplace. PDA/CDAs can be used to assist with return work planning or to develop injury prevention strategies. Walsh & Associates Professional Safety Services staff can help develop strategies to demonstrate compliance with a best practices approach for sprain/strain prevention programs.

Job Shadowing

Even with best laid plans, return to work programs can flounder. Bring in a Walsh & Associates Professional Safety Services Registered Kinesiologist to "buddy” with the worker. Through careful observation of the task and how the worker performs the task, we can develop strategies to perform the work without significantly aggravating the worker’s condition.

Stretch Breaks

Sometimes workers need to learn about proper warming up and preparing for a physical job. Walsh & Associates Professional Safety Services can provide instruction on stretch breaks, including setting up a program and teaching work site champions how to head up stretch breaks. Stretch breaks are most effective when included as a part of a proactive injury prevention program.

Ergonomics Claims Validation

Walsh & Associates Professional Safety Services can participate, lead or guide investigation into an incident with the objective of determining the feasibility of the type of injury occurring due to the reported mechanism of injury. This ergonomics investigation can be a stand-alone service, as part of an ergonomics program, or part of an incident investigation program.
